I have decades of experience in the field of cardiology, and passionate about staying up-to-date with the latest research and treatment options. I am committed to ongoing education and professional development, and regularly attend conferences and workshops to enhance my knowledge and skill set.
I bring this expertise to every patient interaction, ensuring that my patients receive the highest quality of care possible. Each patient is different and there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach in the field of Cardiology and I a committed to a tailored, individualised care for my patients.
I am a very well known senior Consultant Cardiologist based in the East Midlands.
I graduated form the University of Dundee in 2002 and spent a few years in Dundee completing my housemanship followed by a medical rotation and a further rotation iin Cardiology. I subsequently moved to London working at Northwick Park Hospital where I gained advanced training in imaging and a period of research. I moved to Leicester in 2010 for further training in Cardiology and was then appointed as Consultant Cardiologist in 2015.
My NHS practice is at the Glenfield Heart Hospital which is world renown for being a centre of excellence for Cardiovascular medicine. I was until recently, Head of cardiology at the Glenfield Heart Hospital. My private practice is based at the Spire Leicester Hospital, Spire Tollerton Hospital Nottingham and Nuffield Leicester Hospital. I am also available for virtual consultations.
I am proud to be experienced in a wide variety of cardiological presentations and I particularly specialize in heart rhythm disorders, pacemaker implantation and interrogation, implantable cardioverter defibrillator implantation and interrogation, cardiac resynchronization therapy procedure, implantable loop recorder implantation, management of heart failure, assessment and treatment of valve disorders, transthoracic echocardiogram, transoesophageal echocardiogram, dobutamine and exercise stress echocardiogram, 3 Dimensional echocardiogram, ischaemic heart disease assessment and management and preventive cardiology which includes management of lipids, blood pressure etc. I am also recognized regional expert in pacemaker lead extraction taking referrals from surrounding hospitals. I have modernized and expanded this service on the East Midlands. I was also involved in setting up innovative and modern techniques for cardiac device implantation which includes the leadless pacemaker, subcutaneous implantable defibrillators and substernal implantable defibrillators.
I am passionate about advancing the field of Cardiology through innovation and education and have published various papers in the field and presented at numerous conferences and contributed to textbooks. I am heavily involved in delivering education to primary care networks nationally and regionally.
I am currently a member of the British Society of Echocardiogram, British cardiovascular Society and European Society of Cardiology.
In my free time, I value family time but am also a keen flyer with a private pilot’s licence, watch collector and also involved in charity work. I am also a keen supporter of Manchester United but also keenly follow Leicester city football club. am also a member of various local social clubs.
